Security & Privacy

Your conversations
are yours alone.

No account, no name, no number needed. What you say to someone on Meowdy stays between the two of you, not us, and not anyone else.

Four steps, every time you're matched

This happens automatically, in milliseconds, before your first message sends.

01

No name, no number, no account needed

Jump into a chat as a guest, right away. We don't ask who you are, and we don't need to know to connect you with someone new.

02

Only you and the other person can read what's said

Your conversation is locked to the two of you the moment you're connected. Nobody else, including Meowdy, can read your messages as they're sent.

03

We built it so we can't peek, even if we wanted to

This isn't a policy we promise to follow. It's how the app is built: your chat simply isn't something we're able to open and read.

04

When the chat ends, it's gone

Random chats aren't saved anywhere. Once you and your chat partner move on, there's no log left behind to leak, lose, or hand over.

What we see, and what we never do

What we can see

  • That you're chatting with someone (not who they are)
  • Roughly when you connected
  • Basic app activity we need to keep things running

What we never see

  • What you actually say to each other
  • Any photo or video you send
  • Anything that could identify you, unless you choose to share it

Video and voice calls go further still: the call itself happens directly between you and the other person. It never passes through our servers at all.

Questions people actually ask

No account needed

Try it yourself

Every random chat you start is private by default, whether you're signed in or not.
